Spreaker Studio is one of the most comprehensive solutions for recording audio while on the go. Not only does the app allow you to record podcasts, it also has the option to broadcast your show live if you prefer. If you’re pre-recording your podcast, you can add music tracks and sound effects from within the app. Once done, you can upload the show to Spreaker’s hosting service. You will be allowed to set the title, cover art, tags and description of the show before uploading. Spreaker also lets you automatically share the podcast on Facebook and Twitter. The only downside is you can only record for up to fifteen minutes. If your show goes on longer, you may need to consider one of the other options on this list.
2. Anchor – Make your own podcast!
Anchor is another service that makes it ridiculously easy to start your own podcast. It’s 100% free and offers a simple but intuitive podcast recording, hosting and sharing experience. You can record a show with multiple participants, no matter where they are in the world, and receive call-ins from your listeners. To record with friends, you’ll need to send invite links so that anyone who uses the link can take part in the show. Keep in mind that you can only record with up to 10 people at once. Anchor also helps you keep track of how your audience listens to your shows through its analytics feature. You can monitor how many plays each episode has over time and what parts of an episode that your listeners enjoyed the most, amongst other things.
3. Podbean
Podbean is primarily a podcast-hosting solution with plans starting at $3 per month for 100MB of monthly storage and 100GB of bandwidth, but they also offer a mobile app that can be used to discover and listen to podcasts, as well as record your own. The app offers a simple interface for recording your show, and you can even add some background music to set the mood for your show. Several soundtracks are available for you to pick from within the app. If you’ve already recorded your show elsewhere, you can also import it into the app. Once you’re done recording, you will be allowed to preview and edit the recording before publishing to Podbean. You can also access the recordings through your file manager app so that you can easily upload to any other hosting service that you may prefer.
4. Audio Recorder
Audio Recorder was not specifically made for recording podcasts, but it does have some nifty features that will come in handy when recording on your smartphone. The interface is very simple. You can start recording by hitting the “Record” button and then pause or stop recording as many times as you need. Before you begin, you can set the quality of the recording as well as whether you are recording through two audio channels (Stereo) or just one (Mono). Once done, you can swipe to the right tab to view and listen to all your recordings. They are saved to the storage location you’ve specified in the settings, so you can easily access each one using your phone’s file manager.
