On the other hand, maybe you just want to be prepared for the worse, such as your Twitter account getting hacked, compromised or magically deleted. If a social networking account is important to you, it’s always a good idea to have a backup just in case something like this happens. So today, we’ll show you how you can request an archive of your tweets and download your tweets from Twitter.

  1. Go to Twitter.com, click on the gear icon and go to “Settings.”
  2. At the bottom of the page, click on the “Request your archive” button. You should see a notice stating that your request has been received; a link will be emailed to you once your archive is ready.
  3. Within a few minutes (for me it was under a minute) you should get an email with a link to your tweets archive; click on the link and click on the “Download” button on the page where you’re directed. The archive will be downloaded as a zip file; unzip the folder and open index.html to view your tweets. Image Credit: TarikB
