Remove the 3D Objects Folder in Windows 10
To remove the 3D Objects folder from File Explorer, we need to delete a couple of Registry Keys. To open Windows Registry Editor, search for regedit in the Start Menu and open it. Before proceeding, backup the Windows Registry. The backup helps you restore if anything bad happens while you are editing.
In the Windows Registry Editor, copy the below path, paste it into the address bar and press the Enter button. This action will take you to the relevant key.
Once you are here, find the key {0DB7E03F-FC29-4DC6-9020-FF41B59E513A} on the left panel, right-click on it and select the option “Delete.”
Windows will prompt for confirmation. Click on the “Yes” button to continue.
Now, if you are using the 32-bit version of Windows, then you are done. If you are using the 64-bit version, you will need to delete another key. Navigate to the following location:
Find the key {0DB7E03F-FC29-4DC6-9020-FF41B59E513A} on the left panel, right-click on it and select the option “Delete.”
Again, Windows will prompt for your confirmation. Click on the “Yes” button to continue. Do remember that you just removed the folder from appearing. You can still access it by entering “C:\Users<username>\3D Objects” in the File Explorer’s address bar.
Restore the 3D Objects Folder in Windows 10
In the future, if you want to restore the 3D Objects folder, then all you have to do is create the deleted keys. To restore the keys, open Notepad, copy and paste the below code and save the file with a .reg extension. In my case, I’ve saved it as “Restore 3D Objects Key.reg.”
Now, double-click on the newly-created file to restore the key. Windows will show you a prompt: click on the “Yes” button to continue.
If you are using the 64-bit version of Windows 10, then you need to restore another key. Open Notepad, copy and paste the below code and save it with the .reg extension. I’ve saved my file as “Restore 3D Objects Key 64-bit.reg.” Now, double-click on the newly-created file to restore the key. Windows will show you a prompt: click on the “Yes” button to continue. As soon as you restore the keys, the 3D Objects folder will appear in File Explorer. If it doesn’t, restart Windows to make sure the changes take effect.
